Just Friends...

"Just friends?” I questioned,
"Ya, let’s just stay as friends", I hear again,
A pinch, I twitch,
"You sure?" a hope, 'Change quick'
Just a thought,
A tear behind my eyes was caught,
“Yup!” came with a reluctance in the voice,
Knew it all this while,
We had travelled almost a mile,

We sat, dined & now concluded,
Within me something went dead,
“I think I should leave
It’s getting late… I should move”,
“And move on too…” I looked down & said,
Heard a sigh & the moment silenced.

And then a clink,

Round platinum band,
Dropped on the table,
The opposite chair was now empty,
I picked up my coat,
And I was ready to go,
Where???
I do not know…
